Places of Interest

The beautiful harbour town of Kyrenia with it's plentiful array of cafes and restaurants is ideal for a relaxing stroll and the scenery is guranteed to take your breath away. The imposing Venetian Castle at the harbour entrance is easily accessible to all age groups. For the more adventurous then try the hike to the mountain top castles of Buffaventa and St Hilarion. Aswell as improving your fitness levels the views from the summit are magnificent and provide splendid photographic opportunities.

Overlooking Kyrenia is the medieval abbey at Bellapais which is again suitable for all ages. It is a popular tourist destination as the views are stunning and there are a number of fine restaurants available which must be pre-booked at busy times.The Abbey is also host to music festivals for which North Cyprus is famous for.

In the other direction the ancient city of Famagusta has many sites of interest and with the opening of the new link road over the mountains these can be reached with a short journey in the car. The city and surrounding area provides a fantastic day out with the ruins of Salamis a popular destination and also there is pleasant shopping and fantastic beaches.

Finally, the unspoilt beaches, wild donkies and ancient monasteries of the Karpaz region are a must see although be prepared for the two and a half hour car journey if you want to reach the most easterly point.There are places to stay overnight if you want to spend more time in the area.
